In Year 9, students are supported to make choices about the courses they would like to continue studying at Key Stage 4 (KS4). We have worked hard to maintain a personalised KS4 curriculum which engages all students. Students will continue to study English, English Literature, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies (Citizenship, Character and Well-being), RE and PE. PE is a compulsory subject so all students will have core lessons, however PE GCSE can be taken as an option choice.

Every student in Year 9 has now started the Combined Science GCSE course. They will continue to study this through Year 10. At the end of Year 10 a cohort will be selected based on the Year 10 exams, teacher assessment and predictions, to take Triple Science in Year 11. All others will consolidate their knowledge and improve their grades for Combined Science for the final exams at the end of Year 11.

 Key Stage 4

In Key Stage 4 (KS4) we offer a wide range of GCSEs and their equivalent. We structure the curriculum in such a way that it follows the government's progress guidelines and provides the students with a wide variety of subjects which will benefit them in whatever they choose to do post 16. The table below shows the structure.

All students must study English Language and Literature, Maths, Science, Values (Citizenship, Character and Well-Being / RE), and PE. They can then choose from a range of options including;

·         Art

·         Business Studies

·         Computer Science

·         Creative iMedia

·         Dance

·         Drama

·         Food and Nutrition

·         French

·         Geography

·         Graphics*

·         Health and Social Care

·         History

·         Modern Foreign Language

·         Music

·         Photography

·         Resistant Materials*

·         Spanish

·         Textiles*

*From September 2017 these subject were combined into one Design Technology GCSE. Year 11 are still taught as separate GCSE subjects

The table below shows how many periods of each subject the students will receive at KS4.
