In Year 9, students are supported to make choices about the courses they would like to continue studying at Key Stage 4 (KS4). We have worked hard to maintain a personalised KS4 curriculum which engages all students. Students will continue to study English, English Literature, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies (Citizenship, Character and Well-being), RE and PE. PE is a compulsory subject so all students will have core lessons, however PE GCSE can be taken as an option choice.

 Key Stage 4

In Key Stage 4 (KS4) we offer a wide range of GCSEs and their equivalent. We structure the curriculum in such a way that it follows the government's progress guidelines and provides the students with a wide variety of subjects which will benefit them in whatever they choose to do post 16. The table below shows the structure.

All students must study English Language and Literature, Maths, Science, Citizenship, Character and Well-Being, PE, ICT, and RE. They can then choose from a range of options including;

  • Art
  • Business Studies
  • Computer Science
  • Drama
  • Food and Nutrition
  • Geography
  • Graphics*
  • Health and Social Care
  • History
  • Modern Foreign Language
  • Music
  • Resistant Materials*
  • Textiles*

*In September 2017 these subject will be combined into one Design Technology GCSE.

The table below shows how many periods of each subject the students will receive at KS4.
